Stopping Domestic Violence

The Stopping Domestic Violence Program uses a Reality Therapy approach to working with men and women who batter, in order to identify and clarify their needs, to change their behavior, to confront and evaluate what is working for them, and to plan for change so that they can meet their needs while taking effective and non-violent control of their lives and behaviors.

Definition of violence:

  • A behavior that creates fear in the victim or intimidates the victim
  • A behavior that forces the victim to do something they don't want to do
OIC's "Stopping Domestic Violence" program is open to men/women who:
  • Admit they are violent towards their partners
  • Are willing to make a commitment to stop their violent behaviors
  • Agree to spend 26 weeks in class learning skills and strategies
  • Agree to practice cooperative behavior with everyone in class
SDV group sessions are held throughout the week, in New London and Norwich, with daytime and evening options.
