Financial Literacy ProgramIn these current financial times, isn't it important for you to know how to make critical financial decisions . . . decisions that may very well impact your future for years to come?
Why do you need Financial Literacy training? OIC's Financial Literacy program is based on the FDIC "Money Smart" program and offers a wide range of learning opportunities. Workshops are offered as a part of OIC's Employment Training programs as well as during evening hours. Topics covered in these workshops include: an introduction to effiective banking practices including: the basic skills for managing your checking and savings accounts; tips on when and how to use credit; how to develop and follow a spending plan; why it is important to save money and how you can "pay yourself first"; building and maintaining a good credit history; and how to determine your readiness to become a homeowner. In addition to workshops, OIC's Financial Literacy program can work with you in a one-on-one setting to review and analyze your current credit history and develop a plan where you can take control and create your vision for a secure financial future. OIC has recently received its certfication as a HUD Housing Counseling Agency and brings all of its resources and expertise to working with clients through a wide range of HUD programs and services.
