OIC has been working in this community since 1970 – making a difference in the lives of the people across southeastern Connecticut. We know that it’s important to you to know that you are making a difference, because in these days of limited resources and increased needs, each of us asks this same question . . . "Can I be certain that I’m making a difference in the lives of those people who need my help?"

OIC is a non-profit organization that enables individuals to develop previously untapped talents, advance along new career paths, and improve their lives. Our clientele is generally composed of people who are economically and educationally disadvantaged; still OIC offers its services to anyone community who needs them. Through the years,
we have helped over 26,000 clients find better employment, gain marketable skills, and contribute to a better
standard of living for our community.

Listen to the words of one of our clients, whose life was changed for the better because of her experience at OIC: “I used to say ‘I’m nothing. I can’t do it.’ … Waitressing put food on the table, but there was no future … At OIC I learned to believe that I am somebody and I can do anything if I set my mind to it … I really feel that I am something now, especially in the eyes of my children.”
